2007/12/05.08 A part of St. Pancras station that was not previously seen by the general public was the undercroft, the area beneath the platforms which was used for goods and storage. This included beer in barrels conveyed to London from the breweries at Burton on Trent by the Midland Railway. Signals of this type were (are!) used in locations with limited visibility and because only a limited number were (are) needed, they always have wooden arms rather than mass produced steel ones.
