02) Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.

It's many a long year since I last visited the RHDR, but I spent a few days in that area last month and found it just as impressive as I remember it. Although running at only 25 mph, it seems to be much faster than that because, being one third full size, it is the equivalent of 75 mph on the main line.

I took a few pictures, of course, but to begin with there are some pictures taken back in the 1960s.......

2006/07.62  Approaching the Botolph's Bridge level crossing, Pacific No.2 NORTHERN CHIEF works the last trian of the day back to New Romney.  This level crossing is the first to be fitted with automatic half barriers in an attempt to make motorists understand that the trains have priority at level crossings and cars must STOP to let them by!  July, 2006.
